Shoka shimputai

Shoka shimputai (created by the current head master Senei Ikenobo in 1977) has Yin (Shu) and Yang (Yo) as main lines with most often a third supporting stem or branch (Ashirai). It is, with very few rules, more free and light in feeling compared to the previous style. It is however, difficult in its creation of a fresh, surprise- effect minimalism which depends on a good choice of materials that may include exotic flowers.

08 12 2012: Shoka shimputai Kabu wake

11 12 2012:
This Shoka shimputai Kabu wake ('divided stem') was
inspired by professor Shibata's book on Shoka, which was edited
at Ikenobo this year (2012). The book, from which the royalties are
to support the victims of last year's tsunami, is a most beautiful
compilation of prof Shibata's work on Shoka. It is a true gem and
a valuable source of inspiration. It can not be praised highly enough!

Again Shoka shimputai Kabu wake with a different atmosphere.

July 2013: A bit of coolness...
